CONCEPT / REVIEWED JULY 22, 2026
Implementation owner
Who should own a small-business technology implementation?
One accountable business owner should coordinate the decision, while named technical, process, data, security, and user owners approve the parts they understand.
What the concept requires
- Name one person who can stop or reschedule the rollout.
- Assign decisions to people with actual authority and context.
- Keep vendor responsibilities separate from business acceptance.
What the concept does not prove
- One accountable owner should not be the only reviewer or administrator.
- A consultant or vendor cannot accept business risk on the owner's behalf.
